FINAL BLAZE

Final Blaze is a physics-based 3D platformer with fast-paced combat.
You play as Flint, the embodiment of fire, who awakens imprisoned inside an enormous facility built by the Grimblers, a civilization of sentient robots. As they drain his heat to power their machines, Flint must reclaim his strength and escape, fighting his way out.
This project is the third game project that we had at our college. I pitched this idea first as a puzzle 3D platformer. We had a meeting at the start of the project to see what resources and skills we have, and after some dialogue, we come with the conclusion to change the game from a puzzle to a fast-paced action game.
This change came with both advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, by changing the core of the game, it taught us to be more flexible and become more capable of adapting. The drawbacks are that we had to sacrifice production time to restructure our pre-production phase, so we could adjust to our new goals.


During your travels, you will encounter angry hedgehogs. They will try to stop you. Dodge or try to jump over them to succeed, but they can be difficult. These little dangerous beasts are fast; some people even call them “speedies”.
Some challenges will not just require speed, but also control. Rush through the ramp while using your speed boost and complete the challenge of collecting all logs in the air. Be careful not to land in the river. Water is your weakness!


This obstacle is "the helicopter", a rectangular prism that spins around at high speed. The challenge here is to carefully maneuver around it to collect the logs.

There is a high risk that the helicopter launches you away, so act carefully, move and jump with precision. Beware, there is chance that you end up in the river!!!


The last danger that you will encounter is all about slow but precise movement. If you are going too fast, there is a high risk of falling downhill or landing in the river. Every time you land on water, the ball gets reset to the nearest checkpoint, but if you fall from the hill, then you will need to climb all over again. Your goal is to reach the point of the mountain and achieve the highest score possible. The final score is affected by the total amount of logs collected.
We wanted to make a physics game using a simple idea. We thought that making such a game would be simple, but we learned so much from this. For the small amount of time and taking into account that during this period I have not a great deal of experience, I think we managed to make a pretty good game. Many people tested it once the game was finished, and we were a great team.
